Things to do in Gainesville: Nature Activities (and the benefits of being outside)

My favorite "Forest Bathing" spots in the Gainesville, FL area

I am a true nature lover and I love to share my recommendations with others.

I ran across a very interesting article while flipping through a health magazine, and I also wanted to share the article, and the places I recommend visiting for "Forest Bathing."

Weekly rental, Gainesville, FL, Month-to-month, vacation rental, temporary housing, Walk to UF, Walk to UF Campus, Shands, Vet School, VA Hospital, Southern Comfort Properties, Extended Stay Gainesville, Real Estate Agent, emergency housing, short-term housing, Gainesville, FL, corporate housing, consultant housing, Gainesville hotel, Gainesville motel, Gainesville B&B, Gainesville housing, weekly rentals, monthly rentals, vacation rentals, short-term rentals, extended stay, corporate apartment, hotel alternative, hotel, motel, gold head branch state park, forest bathing, things to do in Gainesville

While, admittedly, I haven't gone cellphone-free or step-tracking free, I still believe that I still gain most of the benefits just by being surrounded by trees.

  • Gold Head Branch State Park:  By far my top pick because of the dense forest and variety of vegetation and trees.  Also, it has hills and great views of a ravine.  Gold Head Park is about 45 minutes outside of Gainesville, and definitely worth the drive.

  • Paynes Prairie State Park (on the Micanopy Side): Paynes Prairie has quite a few wooded trails and so much beautiful wildlife.  I've seen deer, wild horses and bison on the Cone Dike Trail, but there are other trails that are not directly on the Prairie.

Happy trails to you!
